Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluations

Trauma-informed diagnostic evaluations for ages 5 and up, available in Texas only, in-person in San Antonio and New Braunfels, or online.

When You Need to Understand What's Actually Going On

When you've been struggling with focus, emotions, relationships, learning, or patterns that never seem to fully shift, you may have spent a lot of time trying to figure out what's actually going on. Sometimes you've already been given a diagnosis. Sometimes you've completed checklists or brief screenings and still don't feel like they explained what you were experiencing.

My evaluations go beyond a surface-level screening. Using a trauma-informed approach, the goal is to understand the full picture: mental health, neurodevelopment, nervous system patterns, learning differences, and the experiences shaping how you function, cope, and move through the world. The goal isn't simply to name a diagnosis. It's to understand how the pieces fit together and give you information you can actually use.

A Trauma-Informed Approach to Evaluation

Unlike brief screenings or one-size-fits-all evaluations, my assessments are thorough and relational. I look at the full context, not just the symptoms. That means I consider:

  • Your personal, cultural, and family background
  • Education and work history
  • Medical and mental health history
  • The impact of trauma, moral injury, burnout, or chronic stress
  • Environmental and systemic factors that may be contributing to what you're experiencing

You bring your history, and I take all of it into account — not just the parts that fit a checklist.

What I Evaluate

Neurodevelopmental Differences

I specialize in diagnosing Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD, insights that guide a personalized treatment plan, not a generic one, honoring how your mind actually works.

Learning Disorders / Learning & Achievement Concerns

Evaluating learning and achievement concerns in context, including patterns that may overlap with attention, neurodevelopmental, emotional, or trauma-related presentations.

Trauma-Related Conditions

Understanding PTSD, Complex PTSD, and dissociative disorders means treatment can be matched to what is actually driving your symptoms, not a generic protocol. EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, and other approaches can then be selected based on what fits.

Mood Disorders

Depression, bipolar spectrum disorders, and generalized or specific anxiety each carry a unique set of experiences, triggers, and underlying causes. Treatment should reflect that, not treat them all the same, or treat you like a category instead of a person.

OCD + Related Concerns / BFRBs

Evaluating obsessive-compulsive symptoms and body-focused repetitive behaviors in context, including overlap with anxiety, trauma, neurodevelopmental differences, and other conditions.

Substance Use Disorders

Screening, diagnostic clarity, and treatment or support recommendations informed by the full psychological picture. I do not moralize substance use. The goal is an accurate picture and recommendations that actually fit where you are.

Our Evaluation Process

Start with the 30-minute New Client Consultation. It is a standalone first conversation, not a diagnostic evaluation, final evaluation recommendation, or testing appointment, and the fee is not credited toward the evaluation. From there, I’ll determine the appropriate evaluation pathway and scope through the evaluation process. The applicable deposit is due when the evaluation is booked and is applied to the total evaluation fee.

Most evaluations are completed within a week, start to finish, once the evaluation itself begins. You will not be left waiting in uncertainty for weeks on end.

  1. 01

    Clinical Interview(s)

Unhurried, in-depth conversations to hear your experiences, symptoms, and concerns, in your own words, at your own pace.
  2. 02

    Standardized Assessments

Evidence-based tools chosen for accurate, reliable results.
  3. 03

    Behavioral & Emotional Questionnaires

Self-report measures and, when helpful, collateral input from family or colleagues.
  4. 04

    Records Review

School transcripts, medical history, prior testing, or legal/occupational documents, when relevant.
  5. 05

    Collateral Interviews (Optional)

With your permission, conversations with family members, educators, or healthcare providers to round out the picture.
  6. 06

    Your Comprehensive Report

A detailed, plain-language written report that's clear, strengths-based, and actually usable, not a stack of jargon you need a translator for.

    • Findings and diagnostic impressions explained without jargon
    • Your capabilities and protective factors, named alongside the challenges
    • Specific recommendations tailored to your needs, environment, and goals
    • Documentation that can inform therapy, coordinate medical care, support school or workplace accommodations (IEP/504), or guide your own understanding and next steps

What Happens With the Report Afterward

The report is entirely yours. You're free to use it however feels right, whether that's a school, a workplace, or simply for your own understanding of yourself. If you're working with a prescriber, I'm also glad to provide the report directly to them, to support the care you're already building.

Why an Evaluation Matters

A diagnosis is useful when it helps explain what you're experiencing and what to do next. Understanding why you experience what you experience opens the door to the right resources, strategies, and support, and for a lot of people, a comprehensive evaluation brings real relief: validation, and the experience of someone actually getting it right, maybe for the first time in a long time.

I don't hand you a report and send you on your way. If you want, we can also:

  • Review your results together in detail, so you actually understand them, not just receive them
  • Talk through next steps for therapy, coaching, or medical care
  • Get referrals to trusted professionals and services
  • Schedule follow-up consultations as you put new supports in place

Whether you're seeking clarity for yourself, your child, or for educational, occupational, or treatment-planning reasons, my goal is to make this process respectful and thorough. What you get at the end is an actual explanation of what you have been experiencing, and recommendations that fit your specific situation — not just a diagnosis code.
